SCHC Sponsored Event: The Conservation of Historic Materials

Charles Hazell, a founding partner of Taylor Hazell Architects, will provide a hands-on demonstration with practical suggestions about how we can preserve the integrity and the important architectural features of our public and residential buildings, and will focus on traditional and locally sourced materials.  One of the best-known heritage conservation firms in Canada, Taylor Hazell Architects has worked on the restoration and conservation of Casa Loma, the RC Harris Filtration Plant, Osgoode Hall, and a myriad of national historic sites. Light refreshments will be served.

Notice of Public Meeting for the Official Plan Review

The Town of Saugeen Shores has initiated a review of its Official Plan and will hold a Public Meeting seeking input to this initiative and to understand the opinions of the public.

Date: Monday, August 19, 2019

Time: 6:30 – 8:30 pm

Location: Town of Saugeen Shores Municipal Office, 600 Tomlinson Drive, Port Elgin, ON

The purpose of the Public Meeting is to provide members of the public with information about the Official Plan Review process and how to participate. This is also an initial opportunity for public input to areas of the current Official Plan that should be changed or addressed differently in the new Official Plan, and to participate in shaping the future vision and direction for the Town of Saugeen Shores.

Anyone attending with respect to the Official Plan Review will be given an opportunity to provide comments at the Public Meeting. Additional opportunities to submit comments will be made available at other times during the Review. If you are submitting letters, faxes, e-mails, presentations or other communications to the Town concerning the Official Plan Review, personal information (such as name, address and comments) may be contained in reports to council and published on the Town’s website.

In addition to the Public Meeting on August 19 at 6:30 pm, the Town will be holding the following public engagement opportunities during Summer 2019:

An opportunity to stop by and chat with Town staff at the Port Elgin Farmer’s Market on August 14, 2019 and the Southampton Cruiser’s Cruise Nite on August 15, 2019.

Saturday, July 27 - Pioneer Park

Sunday , July 28 - Beach Flag Pole

The Festival kicks off Friday evening with entertainment for the whole family at the Bruce County Museum & Cultural Centre, 6pm, admission is Free.

The highlight of Saturday’s festivities is the 8th Annual Cardboard Boat Race, but there are plenty of activities for both kids and adults alike from the Capt. Wayne Sparrow’s Gold Hunt to live musical entertainment at the harbour.

On Saturday ride, don’t drive, down to the festivities at Pioneer Park and park your bike with the BIA Bike Valet (by donation) from 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m..

Sunday wraps up the event with the 4th Annual War on the Shore Bike Race. Register or watch an event that accommodates everyone from a UCI Professional to the recreational enthusiast by offering a variety of categories.
